Today, I discovered 'Hanon: The Virtuoso Pianist'.
Its a 60-exercise manual, published in 1873, that sets out finger exercises designed to improve technique for pianists of all abilities.
So, here is exercise #1. In the easiest key of all, C. I transposed the right hand into 3rds just for extra fun.
Its just another thing I couldn't do this morning that I can now. I will look to include Hanon exercises at every practice session from now. They obviously get more and more involved as you progress through all 60.
